Fibroid - Facts
Fibroids are benign, otherwise known as non-cancerous, and are the most common growths in a woman's reproductive system. It is interesting to note that most women experience no symptoms and may not be aware they have fibroids, however if you think you have fibroid problems always consult you doctor or medical professional.
Fibroids can vary in size from about the size of a pea to the size of a melon and symptoms can include the following: unusually heavy period's, anaemia leading to tiredness as well as back pain, and problems with frequent urination and feeling constipated.
There are four types of fibroid these are:
* Submucosal -- these grow in the muscle underneath the womb lining.
* Cervical -- these grow on the wall of the cervix
* Subcerous fibroids -- grow on the outer layer of the womb wall.
* Intramural -- these grow in the wall of the womb and are the most common of the fibroids
The causes of fibroids are still unclear however it is thought that diet fitness and weight are all factors.
It is known that women who are overweight are far more likely to develop fibroids than those of normal weight.
A healthy balanced diet including fruit vegetables and wholegrain is thought to help reduce the size of fibroids and even offer some protection against developing them in the first place.
Regular exercise proper hydration controlling your weight paying attention to these things will relieve fibroid symptoms if you have them and protect you from them if you don't.
